Steve Waugh had high praises for the duo of Virat KohliandRohit Sharma, and regarded them to be two of the all-time great players. The 1999 World Cup winning captain regarded Virat as a as a once-in-a-generation player and felt he is the greatest batter in the history of ODIs.
The former Australian batter was present in Gold Coast during the fourth T20I of the series between India and Australia. While he was glad that India had some exciting younger talents in the lineup, Waugh felt it's great to see veterans like Virat and Rohit in action.

"Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are two all-time great players. Virat Kohli is probably the greatest one-day player of all time. You want to see them play everywhere. People on the Gold Coast would love to see them play, but they can't play every match," Waugh said to the reporters.

He claimed it's always good to see them in action amidst their limited presence in the Indian Team of late. The former Australian cricketer understood the need for the game to evolve but yearned to see great players in action, especially when they do not have a lot left in their careers.

"Whilst they're still playing for India, that's fantastic. They've got a modern T20 side now, a lot of exciting stars playing. The game has got to evolve. It's always great to see all-time great players in action. Someone like Virat Kohli, that's a once-in-a-generation sort of player. If you get a chance, you want to see him play," Waugh added.
