Just 2 days before the start of the India vs New Zealand series, the home team have been dealt yet another blow. According to reports, Prasidh Krishna has injured himself during the Karnataka vs Madhya Pradesh game. The 28-year-old hasn’t played for India since the start of this year.

Prasidh Krishna had been named in the travelling reserves squad along with Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana and Nitish Reddy. The latest injury concern also means that Krishna’s constant fitness struggles this year have resurfaced. The Karnataka pacer didn’t play in the IPL 2024 season due to his fitness concerns.

Mohammed Shami is yet to start bowling after his Achilles heel injury. It was earlier reported that Shami will be picked for the New Zealand series. The 34-year-old is racing against time to make himself fit for the upcoming Border Gavaskar series.

Even New Zealand are having a massive injury concern ahead of the opening game. Former skipper Kane Williamson has been sidelined due to a groin injury. The 34-year-old is a huge part of the Kiwi side with his run-scoring and previous experience of playing in India.

Rohit Sharma and the rest of the Indian team members are currently sweating it out in Bengaluru. India have just beaten Bangladesh with 2-0 margin and will want to continue their hot streak. If India win the series 3-0 they will be one step closer to qualifying for the WTC 2025 finals.

Meanwhile, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has said that Mumbai Indians might retain Rohit Sharma ahead of the coming auctions. Mark Boucher was fired on Sunday and Mahela Jayawardene has rejoined as the coach of the team.

Aakash Chopra said “I mean they have plenty. So they might retain 5+1 and reach the auction after spending 79 crores. They are the ones who are able to manage because the six players they will retain are going to be part of the XI, and all will be Indians. So they can still pull it off,"

The former Indian star also spoke about Paras Mhambrey joining as the bowling coach and said “They were conceding a lot of runs. If they were making 200-225, they used to concede that as well despite Bumrah being there. If you were conceding 200 runs in 16 overs, you need a lot of help in bowling. So Paras Mhambrey has come there”
