Mumbai Indians have appointed Mahela Jayawardene as their new head coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. After a gap of two years, Jayawardene is set to return to Mumbai Indians. With him, India's former bowling coach Paras Mhambrey has also joined MI as their bowling coach. The franchise took to social media to announce the arrival of Jayawardene to the team.

MI captioned the tweet, "17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 & AGAIN! Welcome back, Head."

This is expected to be the comeback season for the Mumbai Indians, as they have had a lean patch since 2021. Last season, they saw a change in the captaincy from Rohit Sharma to Hardik Pandya, which didn't sit well with the audience. They went on to troll Hardik for his performance and captaincy, forgetting that he plays for India as well. Throughout the tournament, he received jitters from the crowd, which wasn't good. Hence, this season will be extremely important for MI and Hardik.

India whitewash T20I series against Bangladesh

In the recently concluded T20I series between India and Bangladesh, the results came in favour of the hosts as they won the series 3-0. This whitewash was crucial for the young team as they will be visiting South Africa to play the T20I series in November. India smashed the second-highest T20I score against Bangladesh in the 3rd game. A score of 297 runs was quite entertaining for the audience to watch and it was evident that the batters liked batting at the Uppal Stadium, Hyderabad.

Sanju Samson's knock of 111 runs off 47 balls, including 11 boundaries and eight sixes, was terrific. He played some classic shots which were eye-pleasing for the viewers. Even skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya played extremely well in the game. Samson won the Player of the Match award while Hardik won the Player of the series award.
