For the 2024–25 season (October 1, 2024–September 30, 2025), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed the senior men's Team India yearly player contracts. Only fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, star batsman Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, who guided India to the Champions Trophy victory in Dubai last year, are included in the Grade A-plus category.
Shreyas Iyer rejoined the Grade B retainership list, and Rishabh Pant, who had been in Grade B till last year, was upgraded and moved up to Grade A to replace Ashwin. Iyer and Ishan Kishan both had frequent appearances in domestic cricket before losing their spots on the central contracts list. After leading India in runs during the Champions Trophy victory run, Iyer, in particular, had a fantastic year with IPL and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy victories as captain, was elected a permanent member of the ODI team, and was recently named the ICC Player of the Month for March.
Due to his retirement from international cricket during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy last year, R Ashwin was the most noteworthy missing. Total 34 players in all were given yearly retainer contracts for the 2024–25 campaign, which included games played from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025.
