Suryakumar Yadav, who is currently with the Mumbai Indians side, put out a scathing tweet which read "Script writer hai ya journalist? Agar hasna hai toh I will stop watching comedy movies and start reading these articles. Ekdum bakwas,".
Times of India reported that the ‘unrest’ was caused after Jaiswal was sent off the field by Rahane during the 2022 Duleep Trophy game. The left-handed batter had been having verbal battles with the opposition when Rahane took an unprecedented step. After that incident, Jaiswal went on to play a stellar role for Mumbai and also made his international debut.
Rahane, as quoted by Hindustan Times after the game had said, “You have to follow rules and respect the game, your opponents and the umpires. That's the way I have always played my cricket and I will continue to do so. There are certain things you must follow on the field; if you don't, you get off the field. This is my mantra. I believe in always respecting your opponents, umpires and match officials. So you have to handle certain incidents in a certain manner”
‘We are in touch with few more big names’ – Goa Cricket Association secretary
Coming back to the report carried by Times of India, it has come to light that a few more big-name stars are in the fray to join Goa for the coming. TOI stated that Mumbai Indians’ star batter Tilak Varma is one of the names who have been approached. Shamba Desai, who is the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) secretary, hasn’t divulged much detail.
Mr Desai, while speaking to TOI, said, “We are currently in talks with many players from the country. I can’t give you a name right now, we will be finalizing other professional players soon. We reached out to Jaiswal some 8-10 days back, he got back to us after thinking over it and now that he has asked for a NOC, the formalities and the required paperwork will be completed”
Mumbai Cricket Association secretary Abhay Hadap put out a statement which read “The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is aware of rumours circulating on social media regarding Surya Kumar Yadav’s alleged decision to move players to Goa instead of playing for Mumbai. MCA officials have spoken with Surya this morning and can confirm that these rumours are completely baseless and untrue”
The statement also read “Surya Kumar Yadav remains committed to Mumbai and takes immense pride in playing for Mumbai. We urge everyone to refrain from spreading misinformation and to support our players as they continue to contribute to the Mumbai Cricket Association."
