In Tuesday's Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Match 5 between Shreyas Iyer and his team and Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Glenn Maxwell recorded an unwelcome golden duck in his eagerly awaited comeback game for the Punjab Kings. Maxwell would have lived, nevertheless, if he had challenged the on-field ruling that Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore had dismissed him LBW.

Glenn Maxwell attempted his signature reverse sweep on his opening ball of the season. Glenn Maxwell, an all-rounder from Australia, had a disappointing start to the 2025 Indian Premier League after being removed for a golden duck in the tournament's sixth match on March 25 at Narendra Modi Stadium. Sai Kishore struck once again to take his second wicket of the innings in the eleventh over, which led to the dismissal.

Maxwell had a bad shot choice because he was unable to make contact with the delivery, which pitched near the off-stump and slipped onto his pads. Maxwell would have survived if he had taken the opportunity, according to the replay, as the hawk-eye verified the ball would have missed the stumps. Before getting the wicket of Glenn Maxwell, Sai Kishoredismissed  Azmatullah Omarzai for 16 runs. Azmatullah Omarzai attempted a cross-batted shot while shifting his weight forward but ended up getting caught by Arshad Khan for a simple catch in deep mid-wicket.

Maxwell has been with PBKS for six seasons; he played for them from 2014 to 2017 and again in 2020. Maxwell played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for four seasons from 2021 to 2024 prior to rejoining the team. Maxwell has scored 2,771 runs at an average of 24.52 and a strike rate of 156.64 in 135 IPL games overall.

Shreyas Iyer smashes Kagiso Rabada

Speaking about Shreyas Iyer, the right-hander is participating in his debut game as captain of PBKS. He smacked Kagiso Rabada for a four to start the game off in style. Iyer chose to aim for a maximum in the same over, but that wasn't all.

Iyer unleashed his inner Suryakumar Yadav and hit the South African for a huge shot after Rabada provided a misdirection down the leg-side on the fifth ball of the fourth over. Rabada had positioned a fielder at the ropes, but Iyer was sure of his shot and hit it with all of his strength, and the ball also went over the fielder's head for a six. This may also be called a tactical delivery. C
