Talks about retentions for IPL 2025 is a hot topic on social media and various rumours about teams and players have been floating. This time, it's regarding Royal Challengers Bengaluru's star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. As per reports, Maxwell has unfollowed RCB on Instagram, shedding light on speculation regarding his retention in the mega auction that arose after this move.
The mega auction will be held in December 2024, and the BCCI will be talking to the franchise owners regarding some of the policies that need to be changed ahead of the 18th edition of the tournament. Maxwell's contribution to the team has been quite significant as he has given his 100% in all games played. He came into the team in 2021 with a whopping amount of INR 14.25 crores.
He has always been available during the IPL, except for last season when he requested an indefinite break due to mental fatigue. In the 2023 season, he showed a class act by scoring 400 runs in 14 innings. However, in 2024, he scored only 52 runs in 10 matches and, hence, requested a break. Now that he has unfollowed RCB from social media, it shows that his retention is in jeopardy, and he will get to play for a new team.
