Once the shot sped to the four and the boundary was signalled, the umpire gave Rohit a sheepish look. India loses Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill early
Chasing 265 to win, team India were hoping for a good start from their dynamic opening duo. Rohit began by scoring seven runs in the first over off Ben Dwarshuis. The 37-year-old then hit a huge six off Ellis in the next over. Australian fielders Cooper Connolly and Marnus Labuschagne twice dropped Rohit in the first few overs.
Against the run of play, Shubman Gill who was batting on eight runs chopped the ball back onto his stumps. Dwarshuis got Australia their first wicket of the innings as Gill could only hang his head down and make his long walk back to the hut. Steve Smith then roped in Cooper Connolly in the eight over.
The youngster saw Kohli take a single and bring Rohit on strike who played two dot balls. Rohit then went for a sweep and missed the ball and was given out LBW for 28 runs off 28 balls. Indian skipper went for a review but the TV umpire saw the ball hit the stumps and asked the on field umpire to stay with the decision. India were 55 for two at the end of ten overs.
