Rohit Sharma ignored by SABC, who name their top ten players to debut in 21st century

Here is the complete list of the top cricket stars according who South African Broadcasting Corporations who made their debut in the 21st Century.

South African Broadcasters Corporation recently named their top ten cricket players to make their debut in the 21st century. One of the biggest names missing from the list is none other than Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma. The 37-year-old was left out despite having stellar numbers and leading India to an ICC title. 

Virat Kohli was at the top spot named by SABC which also saw former Indian skipper MS Dhoni placed last. The third Indian to make the list was fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah who has been inspirational since his debut across each format of the game. 

Three South African stars make the list with one Sri Lanka, two English players and just one Australian player. Rohit Sharma and the rest of the Indian cricket team are getting ready to play Bangladesh in the first Test in Chennai starting next Thursday. 

SABC rates Virat Kohli as the best debutant of 21st century 

According to a South African Broadcasting Corporation rating, Virat Kohli has been rated at the top of a special list. The former Indian skipper is the best player to make his debut in the 21st century. The 35-year-old had a great 2023 with the bat as he became the highest century maker in ODI cricket. 

The former South African stars AB De Villiers, Dale Steyn, and Hashim Amla are the three home players making the list. Hashim Amla became the first ever batter to score a Test triple ton for South Africa when he hit 311 vs England. Dale Steyn retired as one of the best fast bowlers while AB De Villiers holds the record for the fastest ODI century. 

England has two stars in Joe Root who is in thick vein of form with the bat. The 33-year-old is the highest century maker for England in Test cricket. The other player from England to make the list is James Anderson. The veteran pacer retired from Cricket a few months ago with 704 wickets making him the best pacer in the history of the game. 

Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara is the only player for his nation to make the list. Known for his classic batting and flawless timing, Kumar Sangakkara is one of the top batters and wicket keepers the game has seen. 

The final two names also come from India in the form of MS Dhoni and Jasprit Bumrah. MS Dhoni is India’s most successful captain with 3 ICC titles, having won the T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy. Jasprit Bumrah on the other hand played a huge role in India winning the T20 World Cup beating South Africa in the finals.
