Rising Indian star Rinku Singh has been the centre of all the attention for his performances and ability to finish off games in crunch situations. However, despite his consistent performances, the Kolkata Knight Riders batter was not selected for the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 but travelled with the team as a reserve player.

Many fans were disheartened to see the IPL 2024 winner not be a part of the Indian team at the marquee event. Rinku Singh finally broke his silence and revealed the message from Indian captain Rohit Sharma after his snub from the side.

"He (Rohit Sharma) came to me and said that it is okay, I'm still young, and there are many more tournaments to come. There is a World Cup every two years, so I shouldn't be disappointed by this but focus on my game instead," Rinku said in an interview with News24.

India had a successful run in the tournament as they were unbeaten throughout and went on to lift the title by defeating South Africa in the final. The Rohit Sharma-led side broke the ICC trophy drought of 11 years with this iconic win in Barbados.

Rinku Singh heaps praises on Virat Kohli's captaincy

In the same interview, Rinku spoke about former Indian captain Virat Kohli. He believes aggression is very important to lead a team, which makes Kohli a great captain.

"I like Virat Kohli as well because aggression is very important while leading a team. So, his captaincy was also very good," he said.

Meanwhile, the UP-born cricketer was included in the Indian side that toured Zimbabwe for a five-match T20I series immediately after the World Cup. He also featured in the T20I series against Sri Lanka and surprisingly was a stand-out performer for his bowling performance. He is currently leading the Meerut Mavericks in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League (UP T20).
