Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting was recently in conversation with the International Cricket Council in their review show. The question turned towards the upcoming Border-Gavaskar trophy set to begin on the 22nd of November. The first Test is to be played in Perth with the second Test a day and night affair to be hosted in Adelaide.

Ricky Ponting was asked to name his prediction for the series. The former Aussie skipper said “It's going to be a competitive series and as I said I think Australia's got a bit of a point to prove against India in Australia on the back of what's happened the last the last two series here,"

Team India had won the series in Australia during their tour of 2018 and 2020. On both occasions, the teams led by Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane had led the team to win with a 2-1 margin.

Former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting while speaking to ICC also said “I don't know if there'd be too many drawn games. I'm obviously going to tip Australia to win and I'm never going to tip against Australia. There will be a draw somewhere and there will be some bad weather somewhere, so I'm going to say 3-1 to Australia,”

The former Australian star batter and skipper recently stood down as the coach of the Delhi Capitals side. The move comes after the Rishabh Pant-led side failed to make the playoffs once more.

During his chat with ICC review, Ponting also said "Someone like Khaleel Ahmed I think could find himself on the Test tour. I know he's just been over in Zimbabwe recently and played that T20I series over there, but a left-armer would be ideal for them to have in their touring squad. Mohammed Shami will be back fit by then, Mohammed Siraj we know will be there somewhere and obviously, Bumrah is going nowhere. So both teams are going to line up really, really strongly”

Perth and Adelaide will host the first two Test matches. The third Test match will be in Brisbane before the caravan moves to Melbourne for the Boxing Day game. The final game of the series will be played in Sydney at the start of 2025.
