India's star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, was phenomenal in the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, taking 32 wickets in nine innings. He was the reason behind India's one and only victory and for giving hope to the fans regarding the WTC qualification. However, neither did India win the BGT nor did they qualify for the WTC finals.

After an embarrassing and humiliating series, Indian players have returned back from Sydney and will start the preparation for the upcoming England series and the Champions Trophy 2025. However, a shocking news is surfacing on the Internet regarding Bumrah's exclusion from the England series. As per the reports carried out by Hindustan Times, Bumrah made an appointment with a Surgeon from New Zealand, who helped him in 2023 with the back injury.

Due to the back spasm, he suffered in the BGT series, Bumrah might miss the Champions Trophy as well. The reports suggest that the star bowler will be included in India's provisional squad, but his selection in the playing XI will solely depend on his fitness. This news was expected sooner or later because India couldn't manage Bumrah's workload in the series. "The surgeon is in touch with BCCI’s medical team and the selectors are expected to be informed," as mentioned in the report.

Mohammed Shami set to make comeback in Champions Trophy

It is reported that Mohammed Shami will make a comeback in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. The most-awaited ICC event will start in February and will be held in Pakistan. However, India will play their matches in Abu Dhabi. Shami, who has been away from the Indian team for more than a year now, is set to be a part of the squad as he has recovered from injury.

Earlier, he was supposed to be added to the BGT squad but was injured while playing Ranji Trophy. The selection committee made it compulsory for the player to get fit first, and then take part in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Shami played in the VHT and his performance was decent. Hence, he might get included in the Champions Trophy squad now which will be released on January 12.
