India's former batter, VVS Laxman, might be seen in a new role in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. As per reports, Laxman has been approached by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team to become a part of their coaching staff. He is currently part of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Laxman's tenure with NCA is coming to an end in the month of September and he might not sign an extension contract. Hence, in the upcoming days, he might join the LSG franchise. While with the NCA, Laxman recently served the national team as their head coach in the Zimbabwe series, where India won 4-1. He was also offered the position of India's head coach before Rahul Dravid's tenure started, but he declined the offer.

The 49-year-old former cricketer has expressed his interest in the new coaching role, which will be announced soon by the LSG management. Previously, he was a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as their mentor before joining NCA in 2021.

Vikram Rathour set to replace Laxman as the head of the NCA

India's batting coach, Vikram Rathour, is set to replace VVS Laxman as head coach of NCA. As per sources, Laxman hasn't shown much interest in extending his contract with the NCA, and hence, the management will be approaching Rathour to take up the role. Rathour was India's batting coach and has done an incredible job in his tenure.

"It is very likely that you may see Rathour heading NCA. For now, a call on VVS Laxman’s contract renewal is pending, but the conversation from his side is not positive. Rathour might be asked to take charge at NCA. The BCCI secretary (Jay Shah) after the ICC meeting is likely to have a word with VVS to understand his side," said the source as quoted by Sports Tak.
