With just a week left for the Indian tour of Sri Lanka, the BCCI is set to announce a temporary bowling coach. According to a report carried out by the Hindustan Times, the board is set to name Troy Cooley as the bowling coach for the tour. Team India will start the tour with 3 T20I matches followed by 3 ODI matches.

Troy Cooley is a former Australian first-class bowler with 54 wickets from 33 first class matches and 4 wickets from 3 List A matches. He was also the former England bowling coach during the famous 2005 Ashes series.

Ever since he left the Cricket Australia job in 2021, Troy Cooley has been part of BCCI’s program called the National Pace Bowling Program. If Troy Cooley gets to be part of the tour it will also give Gautam Gambhir a chance to witness and assimilate with the bowling coach. With the Australian tour coming up, Troy Cooley could play an important role for Team India if he is hired on a permanent deal.
