‘Remember the game at Mohali?’ - Suresh Raina’s rebuttal to Pakistani Journalist sets social media on fire

Suresh Raina comes up with a blunt response to a tweet from Pakistani Journalist after Shahid Afridi was named the latest ambassador for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024

Former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi was named as the ambassador for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Afridi has become the latest entrant to this list after Usain Bolt the noted Jamaican legend along with former West Indian skipper Chris Gayle. Former India star Yuvraj Singh who won the title in 2007 in its inaugural edition, 

Once the announcement came to light, Pakistan Journalist Imran Siddique tried to troll the former India batter on Twitter. “ICC has named Shahid Afridi as an ambassador for ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Hello Suresh Raina?”

The former India star though didn’t miss a beat when he came up with a brutal reply. “I’m not an ICC ambassador, but I have the 2011 World Cup at my house. Remember the game at Mohali? Hope it brings back some unforgettable memories for you”

India and Pakistan set for marquee clash during T20 World Cup 2024 

The T20 World Cup 2024 is set to begin in a few days and the eyes of the cricketing world will be on the huge game set to take place on 9th June. India and Pakistan will clash for the 7th time. The two sides have played each other 7 times in the T20 World Cup with India winning six and Pakistan winning once. 

One of the biggest reasons for this entire attempt to troll Suresh Raina was a viral comment made by the former India star. Suresh Raina who is currently commentating in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 tournament was asked if he would entertain thoughts of making his cricketing return. To which Raina said “Suresh Raina hu, Shahid Afridi nahi” provoking laughter from the others. 

Meanwhile, the ICC has shared the first thoughts of what Shahid Afridi had said after being named the Ambassador. “The ICC Men's T20 World Cup is an event that is very close to my heart. From being Player of the Tournament in the inaugural edition to lifting the trophy in 2009, some of my favourite career highlights have come from competing on this stage," 

The former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi also said “T20 World Cups have gone from strength to strength in recent years, and I'm thrilled to be part of this edition, where we will see more teams, more matches and even more drama than ever before. I am particularly excited to witness the India v Pakistan fixture on 9 June. It is one of the great rivalries in sport and New York will be a fitting stage for this unmissable encounter between two great teams”
