The former Indian cricketer took to X, dismissing to have made such statements, and confirmed that it was fake news and complained about the individuals who spread the baseless news all over social media.
"Don't associate me with this fake news. Shame on those who trigger all this," wrote Ravi Ashwin on X. On Social Media, it was claimed that Ashwin had pointed out that BCCI allowed the World Championship of Legends Match between India and Pakistan was boycotted due to less money involved, unlike the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup match.

"Small money is involved, so the World Championship of Legends match got cancelled against Pakistan. In the Asia Cup, the BCCI hasn't cancelled it because the amount of money decides the level of patriotism," claimed several statements on social media to have been made by Ashwin.

Recently, the Asia Cup 2025 schedule was announced, which will feature eight teams in two groups. India and Pakistan are grouped in Group A and could potentially face each other again in the Super 4, as the two top teams are placed alongside Oman and UAE in their group in the top Asian Tournament.

BCCI hasn't objected to the match, which would mean India playing Pakistan in the Asia Cup, which disappointed many Indian fans. On the other hand, former Indian players like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Shikhar Dhawan, and Suresh Raina boycotted their WCL Match against Pakistan Champions, which led to the cancellation of the match between the two sides.
