Former Indian coach Rahul Dravid has been approached for a new job post relinquishing his duties post the T20 World Cup. The job in question is for the role of the mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders side. If Rahul Dravid accepts the job he will be replacing Gautam Gambhir who is set to become the new Indian coach.

News 18 Bangla has revealed that Rahul Dravid has been approached by the Indian Premier League 2024 champions. His role in India’s T20 World Cup win has made Rahul Dravid one of the top priorities for Shah Rukh Khan as a part of his backroom staff.

If Rahul Dravid accepts this job, he will be joining Chandrakant Pandit who is the coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the IPL 2025 season. Rahul Dravid will also be entrusted with the job of overseeing the new changes in the team as there is a mega auction lined up next year.

Rahul Dravid praises Virat Kohli while speaking to BCCI

While speaking to the official BCCI channel, Rahul Dravid had massive words of praise for former Indian skipper Virat Kohli. The 35-year-old had stepped down from the T20I format after India won the title to make way for youngsters.

Rahul Dravid said, “Even with someone like Virat. In his initial days, just a couple of series with him as captain, just a couple of matches. Getting to know him as well and to see how he goes about his business, the professionalism he continues to display, his desire to improve, to get better has been fascinating to watch.”

Virat Kohli along with Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja have called time ion their T20I careers for India. It was Virat Kohli who handed Rahul Dravid the T20I World Cup trophy during the presentation ceremony as the former Indian coach celebrated wildly.

Kolkata Knight Riders, meanwhile, will be looking to entice Rahul Dravid for the job to continue their newfound aggression. The 51-year-old has already mentored Rajasthan Royals for a few years before heading to the NCA and eventually becoming the Indian under-19 coach and the national team coach.
