West Indian cricketer Romario Shepherd stunned the world with his blistering 14-ball fifty in the IPL 2025 game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings. The knock helped reach massive 213 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets from their 20 overs. At one stage, RCB were struggling to even reach 175 runs as they were placed at 159 for five after 18 overs.
MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bowl first as Virat Kohli and Jacob Bethell started well with the bat. The pair added 97 runs for the first wicket in just under 10 overs. Bethell was dismissed for 55 thanks to a fantastic catch by South African star Dewald Brevis. Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli then was out after scoring 62 when Khaleel Ahmed took the catch to give Sam Curran his first wicket.
Devdutt Padikkal was out after scoring 17 while skipper Rajat Patidar was dismissed for 11 runs. Wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma fell to Noor Ahmad after scoring seven runs and at that stage RCB were in deep trouble before Shepherd came out to the middle to join Tim David. By the end of the innings, David was not out on two runs while Shepherd stole the show.
Romario Shepherd blitz helps RCB cross 200 runs
Left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed was given the task of bowling the 19th over of the innings. The first two balls saw the batter deposit the ball deep into the stands to get give the much-needed impetus. In the very next ball, Shepherd hit Khaleel for a four to move to 17 runs from just five balls.
The next two balls produced two more sixes which also included a no-ball. The resulting free hit saw no runs being scored while the last ball went for a four. The 33 runs which were scored off the over as the total suddenly went close to 200. The final over of the innings bowled by Pathirana saw Tim David take a single off the first ball.
In the next ball, Shepherd hit the pacer for a four, while was followed by a dot ball. In the fourth ball Shepherd hit a four to reach 41 runs and followed it up with two huge sixes to reach his fifty. Once the landmark was reached Tim David gave his partner a massive hug as the duo jogged off the field.
