Pakistan team spent lavishly during their USA sojourn?
According to a few reports doing the rounds, the Pakistani side have spent massively during their recent T20 World Cup campaign. It has come to light that the players were joined by their families and this has seen huge hotel bills being incurred.
One report stated “Some 60 rooms were booked where the team stayed to accommodate the other people travelling with the team. The environment was a family one with take-away dinners and outings being the norm for some players”
Atiq-uz-Zaman who is a former Pakistani player slammed the team over the extravagant spending. Speaking in a show the former player said "In a World Cup, no families should have been allowed as the players needed to focus on their cricket. When you have families with you then a player's attention and time is diverted from cricket”
Pakistan came into the World Cup to USA and were placed with the co-hosts along with Ireland, Canada, and India. Babar Azam’s side lost to USA in the Super-over which left many fans in shock.
There was a bigger shock to follow as the Pakistanis failed to chase the 120-run score set by India and lost by 6 runs. Despite a win over Canada, their Super-8 qualification hopes ended as the USA vs Ireland game was rained out. In their last match they beat Ireland but it was inconsequential.
