Virat Kohli-led Indian batting attack completely outplayed the arch-rivals Pakistan by 6 wickets in the high-octane clash at the DICS in Dubai. Kohli achieved two historic milestones in his unforgettable century knock against the Men in Green. He first scored 14,000 runs in the start of his knock followed by hitting his ODI career’s 51st century.

Earlier in the first innings, Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, the Men in Green got two early blows, losing 2 wickets at the score of 47 runs in 9.2 overs. Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq went back to the pavilion at individual scores of 23 and 10 runs. Then came an important but slow partnership of 104 runs for the third wicket between Saud Shakeel and skipper Mohammad Rizwan before the latter was bowled by Axar Patel at the individual score of 46 runs.

Just a few moments later, Saud Shakeel also got dismissed at the score of 62 runs off 76 balls, with five fours. Furthermore, Khushdil Shah also scored a crucial 38 runs off 39 balls, with 2 sixes to help Pakistan reach a total of 241 runs, losing all wickets in 49.4 overs.

Star India spinner Kuldeep Yadav scalped 3 wickets at just 40 runs in his nine overs, alongside two wickets bagged by Hardik Pandya at just 31 runs in his eight overs. Besides these two, Harshit Rana, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja also picked a wicket each for India in the first innings.

While chasing the target, India got a quick start of 31 runs in 5 overs from the opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Shubman Gill. Rohit was trapped by Pakistan’s star pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi in a ‘bowled’ dismissal at the individual score of 20 runs off 15 balls, with three fours and a six.

After Rohit’s dismissal, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli stitched a steady partnership of 69 runs for the second wicket before the latter was bowled by Abrar Ahmed in the 18th over. Gill played a crucial knock of 46 runs off 52 balls, with seven fours.

What came afterwards was an iconic match-winning partnership of 114 runs for the third wicket between modern-day batting legend Virat Kohli and number four batter Shreyas Iyer. Iyer scored 56 runs off 67 balls, with five fours and a six. Indian batting stalwart scored an unbeaten and historic 51st ODI century, hitting 100 runs off 111 balls, with seven fours, hitting the winning four for India to clinch the game by 6 wickets.

Virat Kohli also won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his iconic and match-winning century in this must-win and all-important game for India, strengthening their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
