Star India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has had his redemption in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. After facing a lot of criticism and being dropped from the BCCI’s central contract Kishan had a great start to the ongoing season. In the five matches, he has scored 161 runs at an average of 32.20.

His best performance of the season came on Thursday night against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. While chasing more than 190 runs he scored 69 runs off just 34 balls with the help of five sixes and seven fours. After the game, Kishan came to face the press, which helped him share his point of view on the whole BCCI contract saga.

While answering a question he said, "I was practicing. When I took time off from the game, people were talking a lot. Many things came on social media. But you should also realize that many things are not in the hands of the players."

“20 overs are a big game”, says Ishan Kishan

Further speaking about the changes, he made in his gameplay and mindset Kishan said that he is no longer the old version of it. He admitted that in the T20 game, one can take time and hit the ball after being settled in the middle.

"The only thing you can do is utilize the time properly. Also, the mindset to think about the previous Ishan Kishan, I would never leave a delivery in the first two overs even if they are bowling well. With time I have learnt that even 20 overs are a big game, you can take your time and you can go ahead”, says Ishan Kishan.

“Even though we have lost matches, we want to work together as a team. Changes have come like even if I am not performing and if I know someone else is not performing, I talk to them. I want to know what they are thinking. So, these are things which helped me in the break," he further added.

It’s worth noting that Ishan Kishan’s performance is going to be key for the Indian team too. He is one of those prospects who might get a chance to be the wicketkeeper-batter for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup. He might get a national call if he continues to perform exceptionally in the ongoing tournament.
