Star South Africa pacer Anrich Nortje left everyone awestruck with his sensational spell against Sri Lanka in the ongoing 4th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Both teams are in action in the league stage match of the tournament at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first at the ‘hard-and-slow’ surface at the Grand Prairie Stadium. Batting first, the Islanders looked completely clueless against the Proteas pace attack led by the veteran pacer Anrich Nortje, who looked a bit off-coloured for the last two months in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League 2024.

Anrich Nortje came back completely like a different beast in SA’s campaign opener in the ongoing 9th edition of the ICC T20 World Cup. Nortje claimed an outstanding four-wicket haul just at the cost of 7 runs in his entire quota of 4 overs, having an unbelievable economy rate of only 1.75.

On the back of his sensational spell supported by fellow pacers Ottneil Baartman and Kagiso Rabada, who scalped 1 and 2 wickets, respectively, Proteas bundled out Sri Lanka with just the score of 77 runs in 19.1 overs. Besides pacers, star spin-allrounder Keshav Maharaj also bagged 2 wickets for South Africa in the first innings.

With this spell, Anrich Nortje has also become the bowler to bowl the best-ever spell for South Africa in the 17-year-long history of the T20 World Cup since its inception in 2007.

Coming back to the current action of the ongoing game between South Africa and Sri Lanka, the Proteas had scored 23 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 4.2 overs in the second innings while chasing the target of 78 runs at the time of filling this copy.
