Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has donned a new hat on Friday. The 30-year-old pacer has become the new Deputy Superintendent of Police. Siraj was seen reporting to the Director General of Police office in Telangana on Friday. Siraj could be seen being welcomed into the fold by the police personnel with bouquet of flowers.

This new recognition comes after Siraj’s contribution for his outstanding performances for Team India. Mohammed Siraj has been one of India’s best pacers since his recall to the national side in 2020. The right-arm pacer was last seen during the two-match Test series at home against Bangladesh.

In the last two three years, Siraj has formed a lethal partnership with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. The biggest moment for Siraj was when he picked 6/21 during the Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka. The Hyderabadi pacer also played a critical role in ODI World Cup 2023 tournament as well as T20 World Cup 2024 win for India.

Jatin Paranjpe wants to see Akash Deep tour Australia if Mohammed Shami misses out

Former Indian batter Jatin Paranjpe has advised team India selectors to pick Akash Deep for the Australian series. Paranjpe, during his chat with the media said in case that Mohammed Shami isn’t fit then Akash Deep should be the third seamer. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are expected to be frontline seamers for the tour.

India’s former batter said “If Shami is not fit, Siraj will obviously become the second fast bowler behind Bumrah. The third bowler spot will go to Akash Deep if Shami is unavailable. I think India will take five fast bowlers on this tour, and those will be Bumrah, Shami, Siraj, Akash Deep, and Mukesh Kumar. They will also take Arshdeep and one or two other fast bowlers as backups”

The former Indian star also said “Essentially, they will have a squad of 16, plus a backup squad of six or seven players who will travel with the team in case of injuries. If Shami is fit, and I think he will be, then I’d be tempted to play Akash Deep ahead of Mohammed Siraj, purely based on current form,”
