The incident happened in the fifth ball of the 15th over with Starc bowling to Pooran from over the wicket. The Aussie bowled a full ball that Pooran tried to slog across the line and lost his off and middle-stump. It was a welcome relief for the pacer who had conceded 21 runs in his second over earlier.
It was Delhi Capitals who won the toss and chose to bowl first as Axar Patel got his first taste of captaincy in the league. Lucknow Super Giants opened the batting with Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh. The pair added 46 runs for the opening wicket in 4.4 overs before Markram was dismissed by Vipraj Nigam for 15 runs.
Delhi Capitals bowlers make tremendous comeback after Marsh and Pooran’s blitz
Nicholas Pooran who came out to bat at number three added 87 runs for the second wicket with Marsh. That stand came in just seven overs as the duo kept hitting boundaries at will. Pooran hit Nigam for three sixes which also included a drop by Sameer Rizvi.
Marsh reached his fifty off 21 balls while Pooran got to the mark in just 24 balls. The left-handed batter also hit Tristan Stubbs for four sixes and a boundary to score 28 runs off the single over bowled by the South African star. Mukesh Kumar then dismissed Marsh for 72 off 36 balls to give Delhi a chance to make a comeback.
Kuldeep Yadav then got the wicket of Rishabh Pant for a duck who was caught by Faf Du Plessis. The left-arm spin bowler also got the wicket of Ayush Badoni for four runs as Lucknow kept losing wickets in clusters. David Miller was not out on 27 which came off 19 balls. The left-handed batter hit the last two balls for sixes and helped Lucknow reach 209 from their 20 overs.
