Five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners Mumbai Indians came into the auctions on Sunday with one objective in mind. Hardik Pandya and his team had finished bottom of the table during the IPL 2024 season. It was a season to forget for the Men in Blue and Gold on and off the field.
After the disastrous season, Mumbai team management decided to course correct. Mark Boucher was sacked as the coach with Mahela Jayawardene coming back to take over the reins. The former Sri Lankan star had coached Mumbai to three IPL titles along with Rohit Sharma.
Mumbai Indians retained Jasprit Bumrah for INR Crores as their top choice. Leading batter Suryakumar Yadav and skipper Hardik Pandya were retained for INR 16.35 Crores each. Rohit Sharma was retained for INR 16.30 Crores while Tilak Varma was paid INR 8 Crores for his continued services. Having spent INR 75 Crores in their retentions, Mumbai just INR Crores left in their kitty with just one RTM Card left.
