India are set to be busy after the T20 World Cup which ends on the 29th of June. Then likely Gautam Gambhir's era is set to begin with a trip to Zimbabwe starting on the 6th of July. The Men in Blue are set to play five T20 matches which ends on the 14th of July. This will be followed by a tour of Sri Lanka, where India will play 3 T20 and ODI matches each.

According to reports in the PTI, the team on these two tours could witness a whole lot of new faces. Some of the stars who performed well in the IPL 2024 season are in the National Cricket Academy.

One BCCI source speaking to PTI said “Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana, Nitish Reddy, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Yash Dayal are at the camp. Some will go to Zimbabwe T20’s”

Shreyas Iyer set for return to team during Sri Lanka ODI’s?

As per the reports doing the rounds, 29-year-old batter Shreyas Iyer could be in line for a return to the team. Shreyas Iyer had successfully led his side to the IPL title this year under the tutelage of Chandrakant Pandit and Gautam Gambhir. It is to be noted that, Iyer wasn’t included in the BCCI’s central contract list that was released a few months ago.

While speaking about Shreyas Iyer, the BCCI source said “Shreyas is currently not at NCA. Here mostly those players are there, who have performed in the IPL and will be in contention for Zimbabwe selection”

Mayank Yadav shot to fame during his fiery introduction to the IPL. The 22-year-old bowled at rapid speeds and earned appreciation from some of the leading names in the sport. Even Lucknow Super Giants coach Justin Langer had praised Yadav and called him a tremendous fast-bowling prospect.

The likes of Riyan Parag and Harshit too are set to get a look into the squad. Sanju Samson who is part of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup is also certain to be part of the team. The 29-year-old could be the lead wicketkeeper for India in both the series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, stars like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah could be given a breather for the two tours. The three stars will be preserved as a part of the squad management with the challenging Australian series later this year in mind.
