India's skipper Rohit Sharma seems extremely thrilled ahead of the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. Notably, the 38-year-old cricketer said the Men in Blue hope to accomplish something remarkable in the next phase of the marquee event ahead of their opening game against Afghanistan, which is slated to take place on June 20 in Barbados. The opening batter said that every player on the team wants to have a significant impact on the match.

Notably, the side last won the ICC trophy back in 2013; however, Team India is looking for their first-ever win in the ICC tournament after the Champions Trophy. The side was outclassed by 10 wickets against Jos Buttler and Co. during the semi-final game of the 2022 T20 World Cup at Adelaide, while the Men in Blue suffered a loss in the final game of the ODI World Cup last year. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Co. will be looking to grab the next title as they remain undefeated in the marquee event so far.

Speaking about the same subject, Rohit Sharma revealed that their side has been following proper sessions to remain physically fit. The 38-year-old Indian captain feels that their schedule is very hectic as they are set to play two games with less gap. In addition, the flamboyant opening batter is set to focus on their skill set, as a lot of players have already gained experience playing matches at West Indies pitches.

Everyone is looking forward and are excited at the same time: Rohit Sharma

"There is real keenness in the group to go and do something special. It clearly shows that everyone wants to make a difference and we take our skill sessions quite seriously. There is something to achieve in every skill session that you do. Once we play the first game, we are going to play the next two in 3-4 days. It is going to be a little hectic but we are used to all of this. We travel and play a lot so that is not going to be an excuse," Rohit Sharma said in a video uploaded by the BCCI.

"We will look to focus on our skill and what we need to do as a team. We have played a lot of games here. Everyone understands what they need to do. Everyone is looking forward and are excited at the same time," he concluded.
