Team India is going to face a massive setback as Jasprit Bumrah opts out of the Champions Trophy group stage matches next month due to his health concerns. As per reports, Bumrah has a swelling on his back, owing to which the star bowler of the Indian cricket team has been asked to report to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, where his health conditions and recovery will be closely monitored.
The Champions Trophy is scheduled to begin on February 19. Top eight ODI teams would participate to showcase their prowess in the game of Cricket. The set venues for the Indian team to play the matches are in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi and Dubai. As per reports, the team is subjected to the necessary changes till 12th February. Selectors are still considering Bumrah’s role in the team, whether to include him in the final 15 player squad or to consider him for a reserve player position. BCCI will soon submit a list of potential players to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

No Bumrah for India in Champions Trophy
As per reports, Bumrah is expected to recover by March first week. “He (Bumrah) will be going to NCA for his rehabilitation. The initial report says he doesn’t have a fracture but has swelling on his back. So the NCA will monitor his recovery and he will be there for three weeks. But even after that, he will have to play a match or two, even if they are practice games organised to check his match fitness,” a source confirmed.
ICC has given permission and have agreed to the Indian team’s request of a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy. The team is going to play all the matches in Dubai as India refused to travel to Pakistan due of security concerns. Bumrah is likely to miss the tournament, as India will play its last group match with New Zealand on 2nd March. It remains uncertain whether he will recover in time for the game.
