LSG IPL 2025 retention players list and RTM strategies of LSG Featuring KL Rahul

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to return with another blistering season in March 2025. Before the IPL kicks in, the mega auction will take place in November 2024 where the franchises will come together to form the foundation of the team for the upcoming three years. Hence, the mega auction will be crucial for all teams. Moreover, BCCI has allowed six retentions per team, which is good for some teams. 

The Lucknow Super Giants will be geared up for the auction since they can buy players for the next few seasons. However, they have a good side now and will look to retain a few of them before leaving a whole lot of players in the auction. 

Here's the six retentions of Lucknow Super Giants ahead of IPL auction 2024:

1. KL Rahul

LSG's skipper KL Rahul will likely be the first player to be retained by the franchise. He is an outstanding player with a great balance and has done absolute wonders for the team. Even though they haven't won a trophy yet but the team is comparatively new to the race and might take a few years more to settle down. But as a player and as a captain, Rahul has done more things for the team and hence, might be retained. 

2. Nicholas Pooran

The West Indies' striker Nicholas Pooran is another brilliant player in the squad who has played some amazing knocks against dangerous opponents like CSK and MI in the previous edition of the tournament. He might be the 2nd retention of LSG as he has experience and knows how to attack the bowlers in crunch situations. Plus, he's got several shots which is quite helpful most of the time. Pooran is an outstanding player who absorbs the pressure and performs accordingly.

3. Marcus Stoinis

Another brilliant player in the LSG squad is Marcus Stoinis. His 124 runs knock against CSK in IPL 2024 remains rent-free in the minds of the LSG fans because it was just amazing and terrific. He, along with Rahul snatched the game from the Super Kings and defeated them which was absolutely unexpected. Apart from that, Stoinis is a reliable batter who has played some brilliant knocks in the past. Retaining him will be the best decision for the team. The Australian player can roll his arms and clinch wickets too which is an added advantage for the team. 

4. Mayank Yadav

Sensational pacer Mayank Yadav will be definitely retained by LSG because of his outstanding bowling performance. He is a great bowler who maintains his line and length along with the speed which is absolutely necessary as a new ball bowler. His best is 157 kmph and is the only Indian speedster in the list of bowlers in the IPL who have bowled over 155 kmph. He stunned the entire cricket fraternity with his bowling speed but missed out on the tournament due to injury.  However, he underwent surgery under NCA and has been picked up in the Indian squad against Bangladesh. Hence, retaining him will be a good decision by LSG. 

5. Ravi Bishnoi

The seasoned spinner of LSG, Ravi Bishnoi has done wonders with his bowling. He is one of those players who can change the course of the game with his perfect spin. He has the skills of reading the batter's mind which gives him an edge to take wickets. He doesn't allow the batters to settle down at all and they fall under pressure.

6. Ayush Badoni (uncapped)

Ayush Badoni is a young budding cricketer who loves batting in crunch situations. Even though he hasn't gotten much chance in the IPL since he bats down the order, he has shown great potential in the previous edition. He scored a half-century on his debut match and announced his arrival in style.
