India did not lose a match at home in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, they lost to England in the Mumbai Test. They also lost to them at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, which also led to a rare series loss at the time. India remained unbeaten in home Tests for the next five years.

In 2017, Australia managed to beat India in the Pune Test. For nearly four more years, no other team challenged India at home. In 2021, England beat India in the first Test of the series in Chennai. For a couple of more years, no other team managed to beat India. Australia overcame India in the Indore Test in 2023.

India's home Test series losses since 2012/13

Since October 2024, India has had its worst period at home in the 21st century. In early 2024, India lost in Hyderabad against England. However, it was later in the year that they were humiliated by New Zealand. The Kiwis won the first match of the 2024 series in Bengaluru.

They not just won the second Test in Pune, but also clinched the Mumbai Test to achieve a 94-year-old record of clean sweeping India 3-0 at home. In 2025, India was whitewashed by South Africa 0-2. The WTC 2025 winners beat India in Kolkata and Guwahati, respectively, to win their first series in India since 2000.
