After winning the Guwahati Test 2025 against India, Temba Bavuma was present at the press conference. The South African skipper said he got to know about Conrad's comments before the start of Day 5. He opened up on the coach's 'grovel' remark and felt he would have a look at it.

Shukri Conrad used the word 'grovel', which was the same term that became controversial when used by Tony Greig back in 1976. Bavuma said he did not have time to speak with his coach about the comment. He claimed that the South African Coach is 60 years old and will have a look at his comments.

"Comments made by the coach came to me this morning. I was focused on the game and didn’t have a chance to speak to him. Shukri is close to 60 years old, and he will have a look at his comments," Bavuma said in the press conference. The South African skipper also noted a certain on-field incident that he didn't like.

However, Bavuma also reminded the reporters that certain players crossed the line, indirectly taking a dig at Jasprit Bumrah. "But in this series, certain guys have also crossed the line. Not saying coach crossed the line, but he will surely think about it," Bavuma added in his statement.

Since then, it has been interpreted that Bavuma was referring to Bumrah, allegedly terming him 'bauna', which refers to a dwarf person. It was caught in the stump mic during the Kolkata Test. The duo, however, seemed to have reportedly had a talk about it after the end of the first Test of the series.
