Ravichandran Ashwin is known for his witty comments and tweets on social media. He isn't someone who stays away from trolls but instead believes in giving it back to them. Recently, after Afghanistan defeated Australia in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan's journalist passed a comment saying Afghanistan can't beat India due to IPL obligations. This in a way doubts the integrity of the Afghanistan team, which is so far the 2nd best team in Asia.

Secondly, it demeans the tournament and India's position as well. Hence, Ashwin gave a hilarious reply to the journalist through his social media. All the fans supported the off-spinner for bashing the journalist.

Afghanistan recently evolved into a brilliant team that has defeated some of the best teams, like Australia and New Zealand. They have played some beautiful cricket and will be among the best teams in the limited-overs game. This win against Australia was more like revenge for the ODI World Cup 2023, where the Men in Yellow defeated Afghanistan. That match belonged to Glenn Maxwell, who scored an unbeaten double-century.

Afghanistan vs Bangladesh turns out to be a decider

In the upcoming match, Afghanistan is all set to play against Bangladesh, who are already out of the tournament. However, Afghanistan still can qualify for the semifinals if they beat Bangladesh by a considerable margin. On the other hand, if India wins against Australia, Afghanistan will still have to win the match to improve their net run rate, and then they'll qualify.

In all the scenarios, Afghanistan will have to win the match with a solid margin to qualify for the semifinals since they have points similar to Australia's. If India's match gets washed out, Afghanistan will only have to win the game to qualify. Hence, they'll pray for heavy showers in the India vs Australia clash.
