Indian cricket star Sanju Samson has been in the news recently for his amazing run scoring form in the T20I format. The 30-year-old has been dropped from the Kerala squad that is set to play the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024 tournament starting on Saturday. Samson’s lack of presence in the training camp was the reason behind his name being axed from the camp.
Kerala Cricket Association (KCA )secretary Vinod S Kumar during his chat with Indian Express said “Sanju had sent an email stating that he would not be available for the camp. The team had a short camp in Wayanad without him. Naturally, we only considered those who were part of the sessions for selection. There has been no further discussion with him on the matter”
Salman Nizar has been named as the captain of the side which also includes veteran star Jalaj Saxena. Former IPL star Basil Thampi is also part of the team along with exciting talents like Rohan Kunnummal and Mohammed Azharuddeen. Kerala are placed in Group E along with heavyweights like Bengal, Delhi, Baroda, and Madhya Pradesh. The other two teams in the group are Bihar and Tripura. The first match for Kerala is against Baroda on the 23rd of December in Hyderabad.
Shreyas Iyer speaks about Prithvi Shaw being dropped from Mumbai squad
Just after hours after winning the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament, it came to light that Prithvi Shaw has been dropped by Mumbai. The 25-year-old did reasonably well with the bat during the tournament that saw Mumbai beat Madhya Pradesh in the final.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer was asked to comment on the issue as the 30-year-old came up a blunt reply and said “He needs to get his work ethics right. And if he does that, sky's the limit for him. We can't babysit anyone, right? He has played so much of cricket. Everyone has given him inputs. At the end of the day, it’s his job to figure out things for himself. And he has also done it in the past. It's not that he hasn’t,”
“He has to focus. He has to sit back, put a thinking cap on. He will get the answer by himself. No one can force him to do anything” further added Shreyas Iyer while speaking about the under-pressure batter. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named the captain of Maharashtra while Mohammed Shami is set to turn out for Bengal.
