In the 27th match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, Bangladesh beat the Netherlands by 25 runs. In a must-win game, Bangladesh played amazingly and won the game, which was really important since they needed those two valuable points to stand a chance to qualify for the Super 8 stage. Now, they have four points and hope to win their last match to get into the Super 8. Shakib Al Hasan played a fantastic innings and scored 64 runs off 46 balls.

The Netherlands chose to bowl first on winning the toss, following the trend. However, their decision backfired as they lost the match. When the Bangladesh batters came to bat, they looked very different and confident. They ended up scoring 159 runs with the help of Shakib. For the Netherlands, Aryan Dutt and Paul van Meekeren took two wickets each.

To chase the score, the Netherlands openers did give a good start but failed to convert it, and hence, they kept on losing more and more wickets. Sybrand Engelbrecht (33) and Vikramjit Singh (26) played a good inning but couldn't help their team win the match. For Bangladesh, Rishad Hossain took three wickets, and Taskin Ahmed took two wickets. Shakib won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance.

'It wasn't an easy wicket at the start of the innings' - Shakib Al Hasan opens up on the pitch

After playing a knock of 63 runs off 46 balls, Shakib Al Hasan won the Player of the Match award. At the post-match presentation, he opened up about the pitch and how they didn't think 159 runs was a good total. However, the bowlers did really well to restrict the Netherlands team.

"It wasn't an easy wicket at the start of the innings. We held our nerves and put on a decent total. I won't say it was a winning total, it was a challenging total. Bowlers chipped in perfectly, especially Fizz and Rishad," said Hasan at the post-match presentation.
