Indian Cricket legend VVS Laxman is set to see his contract with the National Cricket Academy end soon. There were fears that the legendary star will leave the position as the head of the NCA once his contract runs out in September.

Jay Shah has now come out and allayed those fears as he has confirmed that VVS Laxman is set to stay on with the BCCI. According to reports carried out by the Times of India, the BCCI secretary has confirmed that VVS Laxman will sign on the dotted lines on a new contract soon.

There were a few reports doing the rounds that VVS Laxman could be on the radar of Lucknow Super Giants. It is also good news for the Indian team as Laxman could be the stand-in coach whenever Gautam Gambhir wants to take some time off.

Jay Shah speaks out on Duleep Trophy 2024

BCCI secretary Jay Shah revealed the reason why Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli didn’t feature in the Duleep Trophy 2024 squads. During his chat with the Times of India, Jay Shah said that the biggest reason is the injury concerns that were raised if the veteran duo played.

“Apart from them, everyone else is playing. You should appreciate that. One must note that Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer are playing in the Buchi Babu tournament,”. It was earlier reported that the two stars will play in the Duleep Trophy tournament.

Jay Shah also said “We should not insist on players like Rohit and Virat to play in the Duleep Trophy. They will risk injury. If you have noticed, in Australia and England, every international player does not play domestic cricket. We have to treat the players with respect”

Meanwhile, Jay Shah was asked to comment on whether the Bangladesh series will take place considering the volatile situation across the border. We’ve not spoken to them (the Bangladesh authorities). A new government has taken charge there. They might reach out to us or else I will reach out to them. The Bangladesh series is very important to us.”

In a massive boost to the preparations for the Olympians, Jay Shah stated that the NCA will open its doors to the athletes. Jay Shah also stated that India didn’t want to host the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup amidst the uncertainty in Bangladesh.
