Amidst Bangladesh's political situation, ICC offered India the opportunity to host the women's T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled for October. The tournament was supposed to happen in Bangladesh, but the situation isn't favourable for hosting anything as of now. While the offer was prestigious, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah denied the claim of hosting the World Cup.

As per Jay Shah, India is already hosting the women's ODI World Cup 2025 and won't be hosting the upcoming one. He said to the TOI during an interaction, "They had asked the BCCI if they can host the event, but I flatly refused. I do not want to give the impression that I want to host consecutive World Cups."

Even though BCCI is known to be the richest board in the world, hosting back-to-back World Cups will be difficult for the organizers and the people working behind the scenes. ICC will now have to rethink its decision and develop a better plan, keeping the players' safety and the political unrest in mind.

I am slightly emotional about this: Jay Shah

Jay Shah is known to be a man who thinks about people more. Hence, during the interaction session with the TOI reporters, Jay Shah was asked about hosting the day and night Test matches in India, to which the Secretary straightforwardly answered, saying the matches end in 2-3 days while the people buy tickets for a five-day game which isn't fair for them.

Hence, the BCCI hasn't hosted any D/N Test matches in over two years. However, the team is preparing to play a pink ball match ahead of the Border-Gavaskar trophy. Shah said, "You buy a ticket for a five-day match, but the game ends in 2-3 days…There is no refund. I am slightly emotional about this."
