The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is still awaiting an official response from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. There are still a lot of questions surrounding the availability of the star pacer in the marquee international tournament.

Meanwhile, the former England pacer Steve Harmison came up with a big statement while speaking about Jasprit Bumrah’s importance for Team India in the ninth edition of the Champions Trophy.

“You can’t replace Jasprit Bumrah” – Steve Harmison

Subsequently, Harmison also lavished the praises on Jasprit Bumrah and his impact on the game while he is in action for Team India.

“He’s Jasprit Bumrah. For me, you can’t replace Jasprit Bumrah anytime and I mean, I would even go up to the morning of the final to take him that far because he’s Jasprit Bumrah. It’s like going to a football World Cup with your best striker, Cristiano Ronaldo. 15 years ago you don’t replace Ronaldo until you have to replace him. So I think I would imagine that’s what India will do,” said Harmison on TalkSport.

“Just put him in the squad and carry him around in a sedan chair. It’s a 14-man squad. That’s good enough to get me through the group games. We might get him by the semifinal, more than the semifinal. If he’s not fit, we’ll replace him just in case we have another injury. But he’s Jasprit Bumrah,” he added later.

Notably, a final and official update on Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness and confirmation on his availability in the Champions Trophy 2025 is set to be declared shortly within the next two hours today.
