The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 is scheduled to begin on November 21 and continue until January 3. Recently, Australia's former captain Ricky Ponting predicted that the Kangaroos would win the series 3-1. Countering his prediction, India's former batter and coach Ravi Shastri gave the Australians a reality check. The Aussies haven't won a single Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 for a decade now, and this series will be more crucial for them than the Indian team.

Shastri said, "Remember, India have beaten Australia twice on the last two tours and Australia have not had a hand on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in almost a decade and that's the reason why everyone will be waiting for these two heavyweights of Test match cricket over the last five to eight years to go head-to-head."

If India wins the series, it will be a hattrick for them and a proud moment for the country. Beating Australia on their home soil is tough, but if the players take up the responsibility and play wisely, the job will be done. Now that Australia haven't for a while, they'll give their 100 percent towards the series and try to snatch victory by any means. Shastri added, "They will be thirsty; they'd be looking to go at the throats of the Indians because they’ve been beaten there (in Australia) twice."

It's going to be India's batting against the Australian fast bowlers: Ravi Shastri

Ravi Shastri made a solid analysis of the Indian team that might travel to Australia to play the series. It's a known fact that the series will be between the Indian batters and the Aussie bowlers who are waiting to dismantle the Indian attack. Amidst all these, the most important thing is that the series comes under the WTC cycle, and the series results will affect the WTC points table as well.

"It's going to be India's batting against the Australian fast bowlers. And of course, the Indian bowling attack is going to be something everyone will be waiting to see. With (Jasprit) Bumrah fit, (Mohammed) Shami fit, you've got Mohammed Siraj there. You've got the likes of (Ravichandran) Ashwin and (Ravindra) Jadeja and some very good bench strength as well," added Shastri.
