The Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen some successful players who have captained their teams really well. Starting from Shreyas Iyer to Virat Kohli, most captains have been great players before getting into taking the team's responsibility. While playing in the IPL, the players have gained enough experience to captain strong sides.

It is a similar situation for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis who was a part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad. Even though he didn't captain any other side before RCB, he did pretty well in the three seasons as captain. While RCB has not won any title yet, he gave them some important starts in the powerplays along with Virat Kohli. However, it's almost time for Faf to retire from franchise cricket and hence, RCB management will be looking for new faces to take up the team's responsibility.

Let's discuss the three players who can replace Faf du Plessis in the upcoming IPL seasons:

3. Cameron Green

Cameron Green was traded from the Mumbai Indians (MI) team before the start of the IPL 2024 at a whooping price of INR 17.5 crore. Green made his IPL debut in 2023 and announced himself to the tournament. In the debut year, he slammed 1 century and 2 half-centuries, with his highest IPL score being 100* runs. Apart from this, he's a pacer who bowls quite often and gives important breakthroughs to the teams whenever possible. Hence, he can be a strong contender for the captaincy race.

2. Ben Stokes

England's red-ball captain Ben Stokes might not have had a great IPL season in the CSK team last year, however, he is a smart player and a great captain. He can also be a handy player in the captaincy race if the RCB management if decides to bring him to the team in the upcoming mega auction. He has the talent and the enthusiasm to lead a side and also the ability to motivate the team during tough times. Moreover, if Virat Kohli stays for some more years, it will be a fun environment in the dugout considering the amount of experience both players will bring forward.

1. KL Rahul

Former RCB player and current Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul is the best option as RCB's captain considering his involvement in the team and the management. He has played for the team and knows most of the guys really well. The transition will not be difficult for the team as well. Moreover, the RCB fans love him since his native town is Bengaluru. Moreover, he has captained several IPL sides as well and has an ample amount of experience. Hence, if the management can trade him in the mega auction next year, then they might get a perfect captain for their side.
