Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first in the IPL 2025 game versus Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). By the end of the six overs of play, PBKS had reached 89 runs for the loss of one wicket, which was the highest score in the powerplay for the season. Priyansh Arya, who had scored a century against Chennai Super Kings, gave his team yet another great start with the bat.Β

The left-handed batter welcomed SRH skipper Pat Cummins with a huge six on the second ball of Cummins’s first over. The ball was pitched on the leg-stump, which Arya hit over the square leg region for a huge six. Arya then hit Cummins for a four in the very next ball to signal his intentions.Β

SRH made one change to their side from the last game as Sri Lankan pacer Eshan Malinga replaced Kamindu Mendis in the playing XI. Hyderabad are currently bottom of the table with just two points. Punjab went in with the same side that had produced a win in the last game.Β 

Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers face early pressure from PBKS batters

Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya got things going for PBKS with a rapid stand of 66 runs from just four overs. The first over of the game was bowled by veteran Indian seamer Mohammed Shami, which went for 14 runs. After scoring just two runs in the first three balls, PBKS saw Prabhsimran hit Shami for three successive fours.Β 

The second over of the innings by Cummins produced 16 runs as PBKS raced to 30 for no loss after two overs. Priyansh Arya then smashed Shami for two successive sixes and a four and turned the strike to Prabhsimran, who hit the final ball for a six. Shami’s second over went for 23 runs as the team fifty came up in the final ball of the third over.Β 

Harshal Patel was pressed into bowling the fourth over of the innings and saw Prabhsimran hit him for a four. In the same over, Arya hit Patel for a six before the bowler had the final laugh. Patel got the key wicket of Arya caught by Nitish Reddy for 36 in the final ball of the fourth over. The left-handed batter was out after scoring 36 off 13 balls with two boundaries and four sixes.Β
