Indian cricket star Jasprit Bumrah is set to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Monday, as confirmed by Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene. The report was carried by India Today on Sunday evening ahead of the huge clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Monday at the Wankhede Stadium.

Earlier in the day, MI had put up a video where wife Sanjana Ganesan and son Angad featured announcing Bumrah’s return. The 31-year-old hasn’t played since January, when he got injured during the final Test versus Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. This will be a huge boost for MI, who have won just one game and lost three games so far this season.

RCB have so far played three games having won two and lost just once. Rajat Patidar and his side were soundly beaten by Gujarat Titans (GT) in their last encounter. MI on the other hand come into the encounter on the back of their loss to Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium. Hardik Pandya’s fifer went in vain as LSG held onto win the game by 12 runs.

Huge pressure on Hardik Pandya ahead of key clash vs RCB

One man who will be under the spotlight is none other than MI skipper Hardik Pandya. The 31-year-old has been under the pump for the Tilak Varma ‘retired-out’ controversy as well as his refusal to give Mitchell Santner the strike in the final over of the game. Pandya, was seen getting emotional after the loss to LSG on Friday with MI owner Akash Ambani clearly seen frustrated with all that was happening on the field.

Former India spinner Murali Kartik was left bemused over Pandya refusing to give Santner the strike. Kartik during his chat with CRICBUZZ said “I did not understand what MI were trying to do. If you feel that Tilak is not having a good day, he is not able to strike it well, you brought in Santner, and he scored 2 runs off 1 ball”

The former India spinner also added “If you brought Santner in with the belief that he can hit big, then why didn't they take a single in the last over? The shots that Pandya missed, who knows, Santner could have hit them for sixes. I think MS Dhoni started this trend of denying singles. Now many players are doing this”
