Punjab Kings (PBKS) have ended IPL 2025 season claiming the top spot in the points table with an easy win over Mumbai Indians (MI). Fittingly it was skipper Shreyas Iyer who hit the winning six off Trent Boult in the third ball of the 19th over. With this win, PBKS now have 19 points from 14 games while MI are fourth with 16 points.

The architects for PBKS with the bat were Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglis who added 109 runs for the second wicket in just 59 balls. The pair came together after the fall of Prabhsimran Singh for 13 with the score reading 34 in the fifth over. Mumbai Indians didn’t have any chance as Inglis set the tone with his aggressive batting.

Not to be outdone, Priyansh Arya was also scoring runs with relative ease as MI lacked ideas to dismiss the duo. Jasprit Bumrah was the only bowler who made some difference picking 1 for 23 from his four overs. Deepak Chahar began his spell with a maiden but only bowled two more overs before being forced off the field due to a niggle.

Josh Inglis show stuns MI as PBKS coast to easy win

Australian wicketkeeper batter Josh Inglis made the most of the good batting conditions on offer to show his wide range of shots. The 30-year-old scored his maiden IPL fifty and kept MI bowlers at bay. Priyansh Arya batted well to score 62 which came off 35 balls with nine boundaries and two sixes.

Mitchell Santner had a day to forget with the ball as he was smashed for plenty in his first two overs. Kiwi skipper then got the wicket of Arya caught by Suryakumar Yadav and then trapped Inglis LBW for 73. PBKS’ wicketkeepers knock came off 42 balls nine boundaries and three sixes.

On Tuesday, IPL 2025 season will witness its final league match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. If Rajat Patidar’s side wins the game they will meet PBKS in the first qualifier while MI will take on Gujarat Titans in the eliminator. If RCB lose the game then GT will head to playoffs as one of the top two sides along with PBKS.
