In another development ahead of the IPL 2025 resumption, Delhi Capitals have named the replacement for the young Australian batter Jake-Fraser McGurk. The franchise’s decision came in the aftermath of Fraser-McGurk opting to leave the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2025, as the tournament is set to resume on May 17.

In the same line of events, DC signed the star Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman as an overseas replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk. Rahman’s inclusion in DC was revealed by IPL in an official press release on Wednesday, May 14.

“Delhi Capitals (DC) have signed Mustafizur Rahman as Jake Fraser-McGurk has opted to leave the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to personal reasons,” read IPL’s official press release.

Notably, the star pacer has featured in 57 IPL matches so far, scalping 61 wickets. Besides that, he has also represented the national side of Bangladesh in 106 T20 internationals, scalping 132 wickets to his name.

The Capitals have signed him for an amount of INR 6 crores for the remaining part of the ongoing 18th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Delhi Capitals struggle to secure a spot in top-4

Speaking of the performance of Delhi Capitals in the tournament’s current season so far, they had a brilliant start to their campaign, with four successive wins. But the team has crumbled in their last couple of matches.

The Axar Patel-led side is currently placed in the fifth spot on the tournament standings, with six wins and four defeats, alongside a ‘no-result’ game in their 11 games. They are coming off three defeats while winning only one, including the abandoned game, in their last five games in the tournament.

They will take on the Gujarat Titans in the 60th match of the tournament at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, May 18, at 7:30 PM (IST). It will be their first game after the resumption of the tournament.
