The league stages of the TATA IPL 2024 is finally over and now we have our top four teams who will compete for the title. This is another season which has been full of surprises with a great number of sixes and thrilling matches. We can easily say that this tournament has come up to the expectations of the fans who have been eagerly waiting for the IPL.

Since the league stages have ended and the playoffs are set to begin tomorrow, let us take a look at some of the top performers of the league stages right now. There have been a lot of great performances by many talented players and it is tough to pick from. We will be looking into these players and their performances in the IPL which has contributed to the team insignificantly.

So, here are the top 6 standout performers of the league stages of the IPL this season:

6. Jasprit Bumrah

The Mumbai Indians(MI) have probably had one of their worst seasons this year finishing at the bottom of the point table. With most of the players under-performing, it was MI's leading paceman Jasprit Bumrah who was carrying the team. Bumrah finished as the highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 20 wickets from the 13 matches at an average of just 16.80 and an economy of just 6.48. This was Bumrah at his best with his wicket-taking ability which has been the only silver lining for the 5-time champions.

5. Harshal Patel

patel

Just like MI, the Punjab Kings(PBKS) failed to show their true potential this season. However, there were still some great performances on the side including the prowess of 2021 Purple Cap winner Harshal Patel. The PBKS star pacer once again tricked everyone with his slower balls and has ended up being the highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 24 wickets in his 14 games at an average of just 19.88. He has proven himself as a reliable and experienced wicket-taker in the team once again this time for the Kings.

4. Riyan Parag

If we want to discuss about who had the most underwhelming seasons in IPL last season, Rajasthan Royals(RR) Riyan Parag comes to mind who despite having a lot of potential failed to give any great performances. However, the youngster has proven himself this season that he is more than just a flashy player with some iconic performances this season. Parag has had one of the best seasons as one of the best middle-order batters for RR. In fact, he is currently their highest run scorer with 531 in the 13 games at an average of 59. This will be a season in which Parag can look back with a lot of positives.

3. Ruturaj Gaikwad

The CSK might have missed out on the playoffs by a whisker, but it has still been a great season for their new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad this season. Gaikwad not only led from the front as the new CSK skipper in place of MS Dhoni but also showed the same consistency as he showed in the last few seasons. Gaikwad once again ended up as the highest run-getter for his team scoring 583 runs from 14 matches at an average of 53. This was another great season for the talented top-order batter which we have enjoyed watching once again.

2. Virat Kohli

kohli

This has been another great tournament for the former India skipper and the highest run-getter in the IPL. Virat Kohli again has been the best batter for RCB and is the top run-getter in the league, with 708 runs in the league and going into the playoffs as well. It also looks like the King will probably take the Orange Cap for the second time this season and will be looking to finally make his dreams come true and win his maiden IPL title. All we can say is that the King is back and he will look to take the team all the way.

1. Sunil Narine

narine

Though we have enjoyed the performances of Virat Kohli, it has been Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) Sunil Narine who has been the best performer in the league, not only with the ball but with the bat as well. The Caribbean powerhouse might have had the best season he has ever had where he has taken 15 wickets and has scored 461 runs while opening the batting. with performances like this, there is no doubt that he is the number 1 pick to be the Most Valuable Player of this season. It will be great to see if he brings the same all round consistency in the playoffs as well and gets his team to a third title this season.
