Gujarat Titans caused a huge upset during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as they defeated the Chennai Super Kings. The former IPL winners exacted revenge for the heartbreaking loss they suffered last year during the finals to the same team.

Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill scored centuries to make sure that the Titans reached a massive 231 on the board. In reply CSK were reduced to 10/3 at one stage before Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali tried to fight back. The Titans bowlers though kept their nerves and delivered a huge win to take them off the bottom of the table.

Here are the top 5 performances from the match

5. Tushar Deshpande -2/33 from 4 overs

Chennai Super Kings had Tushar Deshpande to thank as the seam bowler was meticulous with the way he bowled. The right-arm seamer displayed good control with the ball as he picked the wickets of both the centurion batters to deny Gujarat Titans from scoring 250 runs. While rest of the bowlers took a beating from the batters on a good batting pitch Deshpande was bowling well with good pace and also deceived the batters with his change of pace.

4. Daryl Mitchell – 63 runs from 34 balls

The defending champions needed someone to stand up and take responsibility with the bat after being reduced to 10/3. Daryl Mitchell was that man as he started to go after the Titans bowlers and scored a brisk half-century which came off just 27 balls. Just when he was looking good, Mohit Sharma ended his stint at the wicket with a slower ball as Shahrukh Khan took the catch.

3. Moeen Ali – 56 runs off 35 balls

English all-rounder Moeen Ali was a picture of calm when he came out to bat. The fact that CSK was in trouble early didn’t deter him as he exhibited great hitting skills with the bat. The veteran CSK star hit Noor Ahmad for 3 sixes off three balls to wrest control back in favor of his team. Just like Daryl Mitchell, even Moeen Ali was out just when he was looking good for a big score.

2. Sai Sudharsan – 103 runs from 51 balls

Young Gujarat Titans batter Sai Sudharsan has been one of the best batters during this season of the IPL. The left-handed batter had fallen short of a maiden IPL ton by 4 runs during last years’ finals. This year Sai Sudharsan didn’t let go of the chance as he got to his first ever IPL ton in style.

1. Shuman Gill -104 runs from 55 balls

One of the biggest stories during IPL 2024 was the fact that Shubman Gill hadn’t scored runs. In a key game for his side the Gujarat Titans skipper did well and smashed his 4th IPL century. Gill who began slowly then picked up pace as he was seen matching shot for shot with his fellow opener Sai Sudharsan.
