The Sunrisers Hyderabad became the third team in the ongoing IPL 2024 to qualify for the playoff stage of the tournament. SRH’s qualification was confirmed after the 66th match of the tournament between SRH and GT got washed due to rain without a ball bowled. It was also the first match for SRH in the IPL 2024 which got ‘washed out’.

On the other hand, it is also the second consecutive match for GT in the current season that got ‘washed out’ due to rain. Their last match against the Kolkata Knight Riders was also abandoned due to rain at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Their IPL 2024 campaign has now ended with 5 wins, 7 defeats and 2 matches without any results.

Speaking of the playoff scenario for other teams, the Delhi Capitals have been disqualified from contention for the playoff stage of the tournament. DC ended their campaign on a winning note with a win against LSG in the last match of their IPL 2024 campaign.

RCB and CSK to lock horns in virtual quarterfinal for fourth spot

Pat Cummins-led SRH will now take on the Punjab Kings in their last league match of the IPL 2024 campaign. Both teams will play this match on May 19, 2024, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.  

Having said that, the highly-anticipated RCB vs CSK clash on May 19, 2024, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is going to be the virtual quarter-final for both teams to ensure their qualification in the playoffs of the ongoing 17th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Earlier, the two teams qualifying for the ongoing IPL 2024 playoff stage were the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Rajasthan Royals, with 19 and 16 points, respectively. Now, the fourth team of the playoffs will be finalized after the result of the RCB vs CSK clash in Bengaluru on Sunday.
