There was high drama during the 61st game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Game on Sunday at the famous Chepauk Stadium. Ravindra Jadeja was given out Obstructing the field during the key game on Sunday against Rajasthan Royals.

The incident had taken place during the 16th over when the veteran CSK star was looking to go back for a double. Sensing that Ruturaj Gaikwad wasn’t interested, Jadeja turned back and began to run to make it back to the bowlers. That’s when Sanju Samson picked up the ball and threw it to try and run Jadeja out.

Sanju Samson went up in appeal as soon as the ball hit Ravindra Jadeja. The third umpire saw that Jadeja had his eyes on the ball when he changed direction. It was decided that Jadeja was out Obstructing the field and the big screen displayed out. This didn’t sit down well with Jadeja who went back to the hut in anger.

Chennai Super Kings win crucial game to mount pressure on RR

Sanju Samson decided to bat first after winning the toss but the decision turned out to backfire. Rajasthan Royals could only score 141 runs from their 20 overs with Riyan Parag top scoring with 47.

The young right-handed batter hit 3 sixes and a four from his 35-ball knock. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler struggled to get going earlier with the bat as the CSK bowlers kept a tight leash on the scoring rate.

Simarjeet Singh who had conceded a lot of runs in the last game picked 3 wickets including the key scalp of Sanju Samson. Apart from Riyan Parag, it was Dhruv Jurel who batted well to score a crucial 28 runs from 18 balls.

Chasing 142 to win, Chennai Super Kings saw the Kiwi duo of Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell bat with purpose. The Royals bowlers though kept the pressure on the home team and kept chipping at the wickets. Ruturaj Gaikwad though kept his cool and helped his side go past the needed runs to win the game by five wickets with 10 balls to spare.
