The defending champions Chennai Super Kings will take on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the all-important and must-win 68th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. The match will also be the ‘kind-of’ virtual eliminator for both teams. On the other hand, the match will also decide the fate of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s qualification in the playoff stage of the tournament.

But there are also the chances that this match might get washed out due to rain due to the bad weather in Bengaluru currently. This match getting ‘washed out’ might have some unexpected turnouts in the points table of the tournament.

Having said that, here we’ll have a look at all the possible outcomes of this all-important match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings.

RCB will be knocked out of the tournament

If the match between RCB and CSK gets washed out on Saturday, both teams will share one point each; RCB will have 13 points to their name while CSK will have 15 points on their credit in the points table. With that scenario, RCB will have to finish out of the ‘top-4’ and even the ‘top-5’ teams of the points table in the current edition of the tournament.

With that, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be directly eliminated from the tournament and their IPL 2024 campaign will end eventually.

Qualification of SRH in the playoff stage

Following the ‘washing out’ of the 68th game of the tournament between RCB and CSK, the current ‘number 4’ in the points table Sunrisers Hyderabad will qualify for the playoff stage of the tournament even if they fail to win their remaining matches in their IPL 2024 campaign.

Besides that, SRH’s qualification will also depend on the result of the game between LSG and MI. if Lucknow Super Giants manage to beat MI in the 67th match of the tournament, it will also clear the way for SRH to qualify for the playoff stage of the tournament.

Confirmation of CSK’s slot into the playoff stage of the tournament

Following the abandonment of the match between RCB and CSK, the latter will have 15 points, having 7 wins and 6 defeats, including this possible ‘no-result match. It will also ensure CSK’s final place either at the third spot or the fourth in the points table at the end of the league stage.

Looking at this, it will confirm the playoff qualification of the holders in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. CSK have gone through a bit of a roller-coaster journey in the current edition of the tournament.

So, RCB fans will be hoping and praying for the ‘rain gods’ on the day off on the day of this crucial and all-important game against the Chennai Super Kings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
