Pat Cummins claimed that he did not care what India wanted to do when asked about the heated moment between Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head during the Pink Ball D/N Test between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25. Pat gave full freedom for Travis to defend himself.
The Australian captain was in the press conference after his side beat India by 10 wickets to level the series 1-1. One of the talking points from the match was the heated moment between Head and Siraj. When asked about the same, Pat Cummins claimed that he did not care what the Indians wanted to do.
The star player was more worried about his teammates. He claimed the Border Gavaskar Trophy to be heated and a big series. Cummins understood that there had been packed crowds for most of the tour. He gave a full freedom for Travis to counter such incidents reminding him to be the vice-captain of the side.
Pat Cummins returns to form
"India can do whatever they want, I'm more worried about my boys. BGT is heated, it's a big series. There's been packed crowds all day so there's a lot riding on it. Travis is vice-captain of the team. He's a big boy, he can talk for himself," said Cummins.
Pat had a brilliant outing at the Adelaide Oval both as a captain and as a player. In the first innings, he bowled 12 overs, conceded 41 runs, and claimed 2 wickets. While one of them was that of Jasprit Bumrah, the other was the big wicket of Rishabh Pant. With the bat, he added 12 runs before being undone by Jasprit.
In the second innings, Pat bowled his best spell of the summer. The Australian skipper seemed to be at his best and claimed a fifer. He dismissed the likes of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Harshit Rana. Australia won the Test and Pat returned to form by claiming 7 wickets.
