Indian Cricket Team won the first Test vs Bangladesh by a massive 280 runs in Chennai on the 4th day before the lunch break. R. Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja picked 9 wickets between them as the Bangladeshi side were bowled out for 234. Najmul Shanto was the best batter for Bangladesh with 82 off 127 balls.

Rohit Sharma and his team now are just 4 wins away from securing their spot in the World Test Championships Finals. The win also meant that India will not lose the series at home. The last to beat India in India was England when Alastair Cook and his men achieved the feat in 2012.

Both teams now move to Kanpur for the second Test of the series. The game will begin on the 27th of September. This will be followed by a three-match T20I series to be played on October 6th, 9th, and 12th, in Gwalior, Delhi, and Hyderabad.

India’s spin twins demolish Bangladesh

Starting the day at 158/4, Rohit Sharma decided to press his two leading seamers into the attack. The Bangladeshi batters though found it easy as Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah didn’t find any success.

The game changed with the introduction of Ravindra Jadeja. With rough outside the left-hander’s off stump the Indian spinner troubled Shanto and Shakib. Rishabh Pant made a mess of easy stumping chance to give Shakib Al Hasan a massive life.

From 194/4, Bangladesh lost their last 6 wickets for just 40 runs. The destroyer in chief was R. Ashwin who picked 6/88 with the ball. The veteran spinner first dismissed Shakib Al Hasan for 25 caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal. Ravindra Jadeja the had Litton Das caught for 1 by Rohit Sharma in the slips.

Ashwin had his fifer when he had the wicket of Mehidy Hasan Miraz caught by Jadeja for 8. The left-arm struck with the wicket of Najmul Shanto for 82 before Ashwin and Jadeja removed the final two wickets. The scalp of Hasan Mahmud also meant that Ravindra Jadeja will start the Kanpur Test on 299 Test wickets. The veteran star needs 1 more wicket to become the first Indian left-arm spinner to pick 300 Test wickets.
